Every summer on the Côte d’Azur, fashion enters a delicate balancing act. The most successful wardrobes are neither overly polished nor deliberately undone. They need ease, personality and enough visual interest to stand out against some of the most beautiful scenery in Europe. This is precisely why Alémais Resort 2027 resonated with me.

Presented on Illa del Rei in Menorca, the collection felt deeply connected to the Mediterranean without falling into the familiar clichés of nautical stripes, predictable linen separates or obvious holiday references. Instead, Alémais explored a richer conversation between art, landscape and craftsmanship, resulting in a collection that feels remarkably relevant to summers spent between Monaco, Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat and the beaches of the Var.
A Collection Rooted in Place
The starting point for Resort 2027 was a collaboration with Mallorca-based artist Sophie Wahlquist, whose ceramic works inspired much of the collection’s visual language. Rather than simply translating artworks into prints, Alémais approached the partnership through shape and texture.

Many looks appeared almost sculpted rather than sewn. Curved silhouettes, rounded forms and unexpected volume echoed the hand-built quality of ceramics. There was a sense that garments had been shaped through intuition rather than strict tailoring, which gave the collection an appealing softness.

That approach felt particularly convincing against the backdrop of Illa del Rei, a historic island surrounded by sea and stone. The setting reinforced the collection’s dialogue with nature, creativity and craftsmanship, creating a runway experience that felt immersive rather than theatrical.
Colours Made for Mediterranean Light
Colour has always been one of Alémais’ strengths, but Resort 2027 may be one of its most accomplished palettes to date. Buttercup yellows, seafoam blues, coral tones and sun-washed neutrals appeared throughout the collection. These shades immediately brought to mind the South of France at the height of summer, when the light intensifies every colour around it. Lavender fields, painted shutters, fishing boats and wild coastal flowers all seemed reflected in the collection’s chromatic choices.

What I particularly appreciated was the confidence behind these combinations. Fashion often becomes cautious when approaching resort dressing, favouring beige minimalism or safe monochrome palettes. Alémais instead embraced colour as a source of joy.
Yet the collection never felt overwhelming. The colours carried a weathered quality, as though shaped by salt, sunlight and sea air. This prevented the brighter looks from becoming overly decorative and gave the collection a natural connection to its Mediterranean surroundings.
The Runway Show as an Artistic Experience
The runway presentation itself deserves recognition. In recent years, destination fashion shows have become increasingly common, but many feel disconnected from their locations. The venue functions as a backdrop rather than an active participant in the story. Alémais approached Menorca differently.

Guests arrived by ferry before gathering within the courtyard of the former naval hospital on Illa del Rei, now associated with contemporary art through Hauser & Wirth. As daylight softened into sunset, the collection unfolded in a setting that enhanced every element of the presentation.
The atmosphere appeared thoughtful rather than extravagant. Music, architecture and landscape worked together to create a mood of discovery. It felt closer to an artistic gathering than a conventional runway show. What stayed with me most was the coherence between concept and execution. The collection spoke about intuition, creativity and connection to place, and the show reflected those ideas naturally. There was no sense of spectacle for its own sake.

Resort Wear That Feels Relevant for Monaco
Perhaps the greatest achievement of Alémais Resort 2027 is that it understands how people actually want to dress during a Mediterranean summer.
The South of France has become increasingly diverse in its style codes. Alongside traditional Riviera glamour, there is growing appreciation for craft, individuality and artistic expression. Women are looking for pieces that feel personal rather than purely luxurious.

Alémais responds to that shift successfully. Beaded details, macramé techniques, textured fabrics and sculptural embellishments introduced personality without sacrificing wearability. The pieces felt expressive but still practical enough for real life, whether worn at a seaside lunch in Cap d’Antibes or an evening gathering overlooking the Mediterranean.
There was also an appealing sense of movement throughout the collection. Dresses floated, fabrics draped softly and silhouettes avoided rigidity. In a climate where temperatures regularly exceed thirty degrees, this ease matters.
A Strong Step Forward for Alémais
Resort 2027 demonstrates increasing maturity from Alémais. The brand’s signature sense of optimism remains intact, but there is greater sophistication in the way ideas are developed and presented.

The collaboration with Sophie Wahlquist added genuine creative depth, while the Menorcan setting reinforced the collection’s themes without becoming overly literal. Most importantly, the clothes themselves captured something difficult to define but instantly recognisable to anyone who spends time on the Mediterranean coast.
They reflected the feeling of summer rather than simply its appearance. For those of us based in Monaco, where fashion is constantly competing with extraordinary scenery, that distinction matters. The strongest collections do not attempt to overpower their surroundings. They enter into conversation with them.

Alémais Resort 2027 achieves exactly that, offering a colourful, imaginative and deeply Mediterranean vision of contemporary resort dressing that feels entirely at home under the southern French sun.
