La Montre Noire by Bugatti & Jacob & Co.

Introducing the Jacob & Co. X Bugatti watch, the one-off Twin Turbo Furious Bugatti La Montre Noire. Based on one of the greatest automobile mysteries of all time, the watch pays homage to one of the most sought after handmade cars in history, which disappeared.

On the eve of World War II, one of four Bugatti Type 57 SC Atlantic Coupes vanished without a trace. It is speculated the coupe, a hand built masterpiece of automotive engineering is worth over $100M in todays value. It was one of four ever built and was Jean Bugatti’s private vehicle.

The Twin Turbo Furious Bugatti La Montre Noire pays homage to the missing black 1930’s Bugatti Type 57 SC Atlantic Coupé – aka, La Voiture Noire.

In 2019, Bugatti paid homage to the automotive mystery by creating a spectacular one-off creation known as “La Voiture Noire” (“The Black Car”) that promptly sold to an anonymous buyer for nearly $11 million euros.

To complete the story, the automotive house created the matching watch with Jacob & Co.

Encased in 18-carat black gold and set with natural black baguette-cut sapphires, resulting in an unique all-black aesthetic. The case made of 18-carat black gold is invisibly set with 344 natural black sapphires. The black gold and black titanium deployant buckle is set with the gemstones.

In the world of watchmaking, the presence of a tourbillon in a watch’s movement places the piece among the elite. Jacob & Co.’s Twin Turbo Furious Bugatti La Montre Noire sets itself apart from this rarified group, incorporating two accelerated triple-axis tourbillons into its striking design.

The tourbillons work to compensate for the effects of gravity on the precision of the movement. The grand complication movement is made up of 832 individual parts.

The watch can be acquired through Jacob & Co.
