Koh Samui, Thailand’s tropical paradise, is a quick two hour flight from Singapore or a fourty five minute hop from Bangkok. The island, known for its allure and exclusivity, has managed to retain its charm without succumbing to overcrowding. With The White Lotus set to spotlight this region in season three, interest is expected to skyrocket. My advice? Book now and enjoy this hidden gem within the next six months, and that’s exactly what I did.

My week on the island was a beautifully curated experience, largely spent within the opulent embrace of the Ritz-Carlton Koh Samui. This retreat, handpicked by Bay Tech Media – renowned specialists in luxury travel marketing, offered a balance of seclusion and grandeur, just a convenient fifteen minutes from the international airport.
Despite its proximity, the resort’s expansive fifty eight acre former coconut plantation feels worlds apart, nestled into the mountainside with a private beach and an exclusive beach club and two private beaches.
The resort lobby, perched high with jaw dropping views, made for a stunning introduction. A welcoming team greeted me with refreshing drinks, cool towels, and the warmth of Ritz-Carlton Koh Samui’s hospitality. This wasn’t just a stay; it was a carefully orchestrated immersion into the island’s vibrant culture and natural beauty.

Upon my arrival I met a couple who had done a site inspection to buy out the resort for their upcoming wedding nuptials. The elegant duo were thrilled at the prospect and the duration of my stay cemented why they would choose such a luxurious but thoughtful resort.
After checking in, I headed to Sea Salt for lunch, a relaxed poolside venue serving an enticing blend of international classics and Thai flavours. The ambiance was casual yet refined, an ideal start to my tropical stay. That evening, I dined at Sea Breeze’s Beachfront Grill, where the sound of waves and live saxophone set the scene for a memorable meal on the beach. I could feel the resort’s rhythm slowly taking over, the service effortlessly attentive, leaving nothing to chance and ensuring I was relaxed at every moment.
My dining experiences at The Ritz-Carlton were a journey in themselves. One Rai, a sophisticated fusion of Cantonese and royal Indian cuisine, was a personal highlight. As a lover of Indian flavors, I found myself enchanted by each bite, transported through a sensory exploration.

My final dinner at Pak Tai, was hosted in an intimate space consisting of private booths overlooking the swim reef and celebrated southern Thai cuisine. The beetle leaf palate cleanser was a surprising and delightful standout, leaving an impression I still savour.

One evening, I dined with Kfir and Vincent Del Rosario, the resort’s Event Sales Manager, who brought with him the refined expertise honed from his tenure at Aman Hotels. Vincent’s attention to detail was evident in everything he did, from overseeing final touches for an incoming group to sharing some of the “wow” moments he had created for his elite guests.

During our tour of the property, he shared glimpses of what the resort could offer its ultra-high-net-worth clientele (when probed by me!), assuring me that no request was too grand. When booking your stay, be sure to reach out to him – he’s a master at crafting bespoke experiences, whether for a small team or for a complete resort buyout.

Spa Village: A Sanctuary Within Koh Samui Sanctuary
The Spa Village, a 3,800-square-meter wellness haven, is affectionately known as a “village” for good reason. It’s a sprawling, secluded collection of treatment salas, a yoga pavilion, cabanas by the lap pool and a health bar, all surrounded by lush nature that mimics rice paddie

My spa experience began with the Songkran Shower, a water ritual inspired by Koh Samui’s traditional festival. This unique prelude of a full body rinse, coconut scrub, and the joyful water throw, instantly set the stage for relaxation and renewal. The rose scented massage that followed was pure indulgence, a fitting highlight in this oasis of tranquillity. I then enjoyed a ginger tea and cookies by the adults only pool, which is adorned by cabanas.
The resort’s offerings don’t stop at luxury accommodations and fine dining; it’s also a playground of activities. I must admit, I didn’t take full advantage of the fitness center and the Muay Thai ring. I was in a state of bliss and after a busy week of work and travel, I was keeping my heart rate low.

But if I wanted to get the endorphins racing – there was so much on offer. From tennis to basketball, volleyball, and mini golf, there are so many playful ways to stay active and engaged. I can now understand why some guests stay here for a month at a time!
My days could have been filled with water adventures, including kayaking, paddle boarding, and snorkelling in the crystal clear waters of the Gulf of Thailand. On my lazy trip, the breathtaking eighty meter infinity pool was my personal favourite spot to unwind, with views that stretch out to the horizon and a warm breeze that kissed my skin. The attentive poolside staff ensured I was never without food, drinks, towels, water and even sun cream.
A Unique Touch: The Koh Samui Swim Reef and Private Excursions

The resort’s swim reef, a contained Koh Samui environment teeming with over fifty species of tropical fish, was a standout feature. Perfect for beginner snorkelers and seasoned adventurers alike, this reef offers a safe, stunning way to explore marine life without ever leaving the property or heading into the sea water.

For a touch of adventure, private boat and speedboat charters are also available, providing luxurious seafaring experiences. Whether you want to explore hidden coves, snorkel, fish, or simply soak in the coastal beauty, these excursions are designed to create unforgettable memories on the Gulf.
Exquisite Accommodations and Impeccable Service
I was equally impressed by the range of modern accommodations. From the Terrace Suites with their serene garden or ocean views to the Ocean View Pool Villas with private infinity pools overlooking the Koh Samui Gulf, every room is crafted for comfort and beauty. The Ultimate Pool Villas offer expansive spaces, private pools, and breathtaking vistas, while the crown jewel, Villa Kasara, promises the utmost privacy, complete with dedicated butler service.

Every room is a blend of modern Thai design, with wood accents, plush furnishings, and floor-to-ceiling windows that invite nature in. Unlike other experiences in the tropics, I didn’t have any problems with mosquitos, as the resort takes measures to keep the guests safe. I found I could often keep the beautiful windows wide open. This elevated my stay as I was able to watch the sunsets by the pool or from my balcony without the worry of pesky bugs.

Twice daily room service ensured that my space was always immaculate, reinforcing the resort’s commitment to luxury at every turn.

Given the resort’s expanse, the buggy service deserves a mention. Traversing the steep inclines in the island’s tropical heat would be challenging on foot, but with a simple call, a buggy was always just moments away, providing seamless access to every part of the property.
My time at The Ritz-Carlton, Koh Samui, was more than a getaway, it was an exploration of luxury, culture, and natural beauty, crafted down to the last detail. If you’re seeking a private, indulgent escape that embodies the essence of Koh Samui, this is the destination.
