Giambattista Valli 2010 Delivers a Head-to-Toe Extravaganza

Giambattista Valli S/S 2010 collection was rich of animal prints, leather, embroidery, exaggerated forms and heavy decorations.

The over the top use of fringe, ruffles and luxurious feathers gave the collection an extra couture touch without being too overpowering. Voluptuous silhouettes and exaggerated forms certainly improve the collection creating more expensive and luxurious design language. Burnt orange-red is still Giambattista Valli’s signature colour along with shades of green and black & white.

Collection resembles a mixture of Lanvin’s voluptuous glamour and Chanel’s eye for a detail. This extravagant look is finished off with the effective sky-high peep-toe platforms in crocodile leather.

This collection was all about the celebration of colour and texture. I am glad to see the return of feminine sex appeal in these theatrical pieces rather than more modest and masculine look that was demonstrated in previous Valli’s collections.
