Laura Biagiotti: Sensual Femininity

What an enjoyment it was to attend Laura Biagiotti ready to wear S/S 2011 show in Milan’s Piccolo Teatro. The show began with elegant chiffon dresses in black and white setting with the contemporary feel. Sensual silks and light transparency dominated the collection. The silhouettes are loose and free flowing yet made to accentuate the feminine form.

Laura’s “white ladies”

Colours range from white to various pastels with splashes of bold brightness. Pastel flower-printed dresses stood out for me for their enchantingly romantic feel.  On contrary, there are bold block colour looks such as a voluptuous apple green dress and a flamingo colour suit. They certainly refreshes the whole collection making it more modern. Biagiotti uses some unique detailing like splashes of sequins, appliqué and beading.

Pastel hues range from lighter shades to apple green to mandarin freshness.

Overall, I am glad to see the collection that celebrates soft sensual femininity maintaining sophistication, class and modernism. Sometimes it is not the easiest  thing to accomplish in the fashion world.
