In an attempt to give travellers closer ocean views, a luxury underwater hotel in will be built in Dubai in the very near future. Taking the shape of a spaceship, the Water Discus Hotel, will be surrounded by a coral reef and will feature 21 suites and a diving center 10 meters below the surface.
The hotel will be made up of two main discs, one above water and one below, they will be connected by three ‘legs’ which contain lifts and stairways to plunge guests from the sunshine above down beneath the surface of the sea.
‘Today, the advent of new technology made the heart of the ocean a setting not only for diving, but also for luxurious holidays’, said a spokesperson for BIG InvestConsult, a Swiss company behind the development.
The above water disc-shaped structure will be comprised of a restaurant, spa, a special recreation area and a multifunctional lobby that is built inside an enormous swimming pool. The swimming pool can be accessed by the roof, along with a rooftop garden and the helicopter pad.
