Guerlain by Ora Ito: because she’s worth it

Guerlain Idylle

Luxurious edition Guerlain Idylle Baccarat was recently launched just in time for Xmas shopping. The flacon is smeared with gold, the stopper is created of 18 carat gold and it is seated in a bubble made of luxurious Baccarat crystal. Idylle Baccarat is a limited edition piece and arrives in a lacquered coffret and available via private order for a small fortune of 30,000 Euros. The creator of this fragrant sculpture is Ora Ito.

Ora Ito

Ora Ito comes from a design savvy background: his father, Pascal Morabito is a well-known designer and retailer of luxury goods, whose shop is on the place Vendome in Paris. While his uncle, Yves Bayard, was one of the architects of the museum of modern and contemporary art in Nice.

In his early twenties, Ora became known for creating fake products for real brands. He designed ads for a Louis Vuitton bag and a camouflage-patterned carrying case for an Apple laptop and launched them on the internet as if they really existed, which soon created quite a confusion in design circles. Instead of suing the young French designer, luxury brands started giving him some real job opportunities… just like this one.

The fragrance itself ‘Idylle de Guerlain’ by Thierry Wasser is not what you would expect from Guerlain, it is also very different from what Wasser did in the past 20 years. The scent is floral-airy and based on a delicate rose, a very soft jasmine hedione type, a lily of the valley and a lot of new musks (cotton effect). It comes from Pleasures via Essence Narciso Rodriguez like a rain over a garden with roses.
